Job Description

We are currently seeking a passionate, skilled, and experienced Chef/Cook to join our dedicated kitchen team on a full time basis. 

This position will be responsible for assisting in the daily kitchen operations and as well as with the variety of conferences and events held at our property.

You will be joining a hard-working, professional and friendly Kitchen Team involved in the delivery of an outstanding product and service to our guests and expected to maintain strict quality and presentation standards.

Depending on your availability, you may be rostered for shifts on any day of the week in servicing our Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner operations, or conferences and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes according to the restaurant’s established menu.
  • Preparing ingredients, such as chopping, cutting, marinating, mixing, and cooking to create a range of Indian dishes, including curries and tandoori items.
  • Planning and modifying the menu as needed to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Ensuring the service line is fully stocked, organized, and immaculately presented at all times.
  • Managing the overall kitchen operations effectively to ensure smooth service.
  • Strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and occupational health and safety (OH&S) standards.
  • Monitoring and ordering supplies to maintain stock levels efficiently.
  • Assisting in the selection, training, and supervision of kitchen staff, as required.

Approved Sponsor – Oaks Hotels & Resorts Suites

Annual salary range: $70,000 - $80,000 (excluding superannuation)

Expected hours: 38 per week

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need;

  • Minimum 2 years previous cooking experience
  • Professional trade qualification
  • Food Safety Certificate.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A positive and energetic attitude
  • Be able to work under pressure within a dynamic team environment
  • Be able to coach and motivate less experienced members of the kitchen team
  • An infectious passion for cooking and delivering a memorable dining experience
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts on a rotating roster (including weekends and public holidays)
