About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our core catering team at Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre in Northam, WA. This full-time position allows you to contribute to a large-scale, well-maintained commercial kitchen, gaining valuable experience in a distinctive industry. You will work a seven-day fortnight with 10.86-hour shifts in a physically demanding role that involves constant lifting, pushing, and pulling of stock.

What you’ll be doing 

  • Prepare and cook meals in accordance with menu specifications and dietary requirements
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety, adhering to all relevant regulations in line with HACCP procedures
  • Manage stock levels, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of ingredients
  • Collaborate with the Catering Manager and other team members to deliver high-quality catering services
  • Assisting in facilitating the preparation of the daily menu and running of the kitchen area

About you

You are a passionate and experienced Chef with substantial experience in a commercial kitchen. You have the physical fitness necessary to handle the demands of the role, including constant lifting, pushing, and pulling of stock. As a team player, you contribute to a collaborative and positive work environment. Your attention to detail ensures high standards of food hygiene and safety, with every dish meeting our quality expectations. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt well to changing demands and schedules. Your ideal skills & experience 

  • Certificate III or higher in Commercial Cookery or Trade Qualifications
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or Food Safety Handling Certificate
  • Ability to maintain HACCP Systems, reporting and documentation
  • Experience in a high-volume food production background (desirable)
