Prerequesite:

A Barista at Brother of Mine is naturally a positive, outgoing, organised, efficient and professional people-person with a passion and flair for coffee. You are an ambassador of our company culture, brand and values. You have a flexible working schedule and are available early.

Job Purpose:

Your purpose as a Barista is to brew, dispense and deliver exceptional coffee and hot beverages. This is expected to be done consistently within a busy environment whilst being clean, organised and efficient. You are also expected to be able to educate customers and staff on all aspects of Brother of Mine’s coffee and hot beverage menu. You are also responsible for the regular maintenance of equipment used in their work area.

Key Result Areas:



  • Technical Knowledge: Regular review and innovation of your technical methods will ensure your progression as a Barista is always correlating with the technical advance of the industry. You will need to continuously adapt and evolve your craft according to new equipment, new roasting processes and new customer demands


  • Service: Your ability to produce consistently great coffee at great volumes under immense pressure is vital to your success. It is important that you can remain calm, stick to your strategies and have complete control during your shift.


  • Maintenance: All your equipment must be cleaned regularly and to an impeccable standard. Your section must be clear and uncluttered to assit you in staying in control and maintain mental clarity. This ensures maximum efficiency and functionality during service and allows you to identify technical issues at appropriate times .


  • Product Knowledge: You will have a solid knwoledge of all aspects of our coffee program.

Key Performance Indicators:



  • Positive Feedback: Plainly; customers who enjoy their drinks will tell you. Listen to customer feedback and use it to track your progress and adapt.


  • Product Enquiries: As your knowledge of coffee expands you will need to refer less to more experienced staff and will be able to confidently and thoroughly assist with customer inquiries about our coffee products.

Pay Scale:

Different levels of pay are associated with the roles of Junior, Introduction, Bar Attendent, Barista, Shift Supervisor, Team Leader and Restaurant Manager, each requiring a different level of experience and expertise.
