The Role

As the Head Chef you will be responsible for the food & dining experience, overseeing smooth kitchen operation. You will construct the menu and be responsible for providing an efficient and cost-effective food service balanced with utilizing high quality, local produce. You will be responsible for managing, rostering and training kitchen staff.

Duties

  • Ensure the kitchen complies with sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Control and direct food preparation
  • Lead, mentor and train a kitchen Team to success
  • Build strong relationships with local suppliers and all other stakeholders
  • Manage all kitchen financials; rostering, ordering, menu design and costings

Skills & Experience

  • Formal trade qualifications (Certificate III in commercial cooking or equivalent) - Essential
  • Australian Drivers licence or International drivers licence - Essential
  • Proven experience managing a kitchen as a Head Chef
  • Attention to detail and ability to achieve highest standards of food quality
  • A passion for food and a creative flair
  • Strong experience leading and mentoring a team
  • Demonstrated track record meeting financial targets for food and labour costs
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure

This is a remote role, where you will be living and working at Lake Argyle. As such, please consider the reality of living in a remote location for an extended period of time. This role includes extensive manual handling tasks including lifting up to 20kg kneeling and squatting, as well as handling chemicals and utilising machinery
